Playable Saber from Fate/Extra
Size: 1/8
Company: Gift
Materials: PVC

Wow.

Just. Wow.

Move over ALTER’s Momohime. You have been dethroned (and rightfully so!) by Gift’s imperial Playable Saber—at least on my list of most enjoyed figures. Saber is so astonishingly detailed I don’t regret spending the extra bit of cash for a 1/8 size figure compared to other ones her size.

From ahoge-hairtip to iron boot toe, there’s literally not one ounce of wasted painted plastic. She bares striking similarity to the other another Saber of renown. Her hair is pleasantly neat and detailed and she even has her trademark extra-long ahoge. Her face is different from the official art, but I feel this works overall for this figure. I’ll get into this later.

Everything just screams “Look at me, and marvel at my beauty!” and I agree completely. Her velvety scarlet red dress is “flowy” and dramatically windswept while still adorned with militaristic garnishments, and she still prominently displays her large bust through it all. Her backside is very exposed and she’s not afraid to let people see!

The gold edges all over her clothes just increase her overall grandeur. They are meticulously detailed with intricate patterns and use different embroidery depending on where the gold trim is on the figure. I flipped out when I realized this.

Saber’s lower skirt is translucent white and she is certainly unabashed with letting people see what’s underneath; I had a blast taking different photos of this part. The translucent skirt is also gilded with detailed and embroidered patterns, and when it catches the light it looks dramatically different!

Her base has a mirrored surface on top and with the sun outside I was getting extra lighting just adding more to her complexity. I never had two of the same photograph. Of course from certain angles you can see right up her dress, and even her underwear has some embroidery on it.

This Saber is not quite exactly what the official art would dictate for Playable Saber, and honestly when I was ordering her I hesitated for this exact reason. I’m in love with the game Fate/Extra and when I first saw this figure I wasn’t too thrilled that despite how cool the figure looked overall the face didn’t match up. But after getting her, looking at her, having her in my hands and taking pictures of her, I am completely 100% A-OK with the creative liberties taken for this figure.

She is gorgeous, and just looking at her next to me makes me want to take her back out for some more photos! :]

Gift’s Saber Extra is an absolutely gorgeous figure and if you can get your hands on it I would highly recommend it She’s currently selling for 8480 Yen on AmiAmi and is worth every bit of it

Things coming from Alter include Re-releases or Saber Maid, Momohime, and a new figure of Kongiku. Momohime was one of my first import toys that wasn’t Persona related and she’s one of the most beautiful figures of all tiem. Thus far it’s just art on a wall and a shot of Momohime on the desk. I would have looked past it but thanks to the awareness of the OhnoRaptors we know what’s back there.

We’re going to have a lot more news coming from Wonderfestival this weekend. Hopefully some of it includes sculpts of some of these amazing figures but while you are reading I recommend you follow OhnoRaptors and Bookmark ro add Plastikitty to your RSS to keep an eye on the non-Gaming related figures that are announced at this weekends trade shows.

It’s Saber week it seems. First after we saw the ridiculously amazing Saber Bride figma, now we are getting a look at Wave’s Beach Queen Saber Extra. Both of course the same character in different garb. I absolutely love the facial sculpt on this as it perfectly captures her character. Hopefully we’ll get a look at the colored version this weekend at the Japanese toy show Wonder Festival. Check back with Bowtie Cat to find out and if you are interested in more than just the Gaming toys, add our kitty related friends at Plastikitty to your bookmarks or RSS feed.

The Saber Bride Figma was Shown off in Famitsu and it is utterly ridiculous and amazing. It was a bonus with a version of Fate/Extra and y’know…I want it so damn bad it’s not even funny. By far one of the best looking bonus figures I’ve seen come with a game.

It’s a new week and that means it’s once again time for us to team up with fellow cat themed geek blog Plastikitty to bring you the Gaming figure Pre-orders for the week of 1/29 - 2/4. While this week isn’t as epic as last week, there are still some damn fine figures in the bunch.

If you are interested in seeing the rest of the toys that went up for order this week, check out the full roundup over at Plastikitty.
